Later Spring "09 Newsletter

Do you know how high 4500 feet looks … outside of a very small PiperCub? Let me tell you it looks a lot higher than 4500 feet. There we were flying with Missionary Aviation Fellowship flying over the Capitol city of Boise, Idaho, as part of a nation-wide effort to fly and pray over every Capitol in America.

What an honor to fly over the Treasure Valley region of Boise, Idaho, with three pastors, the pilot and myself. A special thanks to Debbie Crosby the Idaho State Coordinator and her Capitol Event Committee for making it possible. And there we were flying and praying in between the instructions of the area Air Traffic Control Tower for Boise. Our twenty second bursts of prayer were recorded live by a local Christian radio station and re-played during the whole day. Each of us had several times to pray as we lifted off the runway and climbed or bumped our way up to 4500 feet elevation and spent the following hour in prayer. But what do you say in just 20 seconds before your cut-off and you are hanging in “prayer air”! What would you pray for a city if you only had 20 seconds to say it? As others prayed, I thought and prayed and waited my turn. Prayers of worship, confession, repentance, and intercession for revival, renewal to come to the Body of Christ in Boise and the whole nation. These guys meant every word of it! Our twenty seconds were passionate and specific. I wish you could have heard it! It was great! And I believe God was pleased.

After the flight landed safely in the gust of winds, there were lots of nervous laughter and “high-fives” before we departed. Later we reconvened on the steps of the City Hall, one block down from the Capitol building that was being renovated.

After the flight, one of the pastors, and I were escorted to the local Christian radio station that had done the live recording of the prayers. There they edited and put together a string of the 20 second passionate prayers that were interspersed with their radio programming throughout the day. We were there to do a recorded interview with the leading talk show host of their Christian radio station, who is a very gracious lady with a passion for prayer and truly a sensitive heart to the things of the Spirit. She asked probing questions about prayer and revival. and is it too late for America? I was praying under my breath, “Lord what do You want us to say?” And words came out of our mouths that were not our own. God was honored, Christ was lifted up and the people and country were prayed for right there in the studio. Our hostess, while wiping away the tears from her eyes, gave us the warmest smile.

I was invited to attend the National Day of Prayer event in Washington D.C.. That was an honor in itself, extended by Dr. and Mrs Dobson. But deep down inside I knew I was not to go. I declined, and instead went to Boise, Idaho. I was a little embarrassed though when the NDP State Coordinator introduced me at the noon time Capitol event as having decline the chance to go to Washington D.C. and opted out for Boise instead. The thousand or so people gathered there on the steps of the City Hall erupted with enthusiastic applause! I was shocked! And when it came my time to offer a prayer for our nation, it was all I could do to keep from breaking down in tears. There is so much that is grieving the heart of God over our country. He has blest us more than any people on earth. We are losing our way for which He called us into being - to truly be a lighthouse on a hill for all the world to see the light of the Gospel of Christ that the Kingdom of God may come to the nations of the world.

My visit to Boise for the National Day of Prayer was truly God ordained. The 24 hour Bible reading the night before, the Prayer Flight over the Capitol, the time with pastors, and the noon time event are memories I will cherish as the National Area Leader of the western states. What an honor and great joy!

The National Day of Prayer event across America is over. Now please pray that it’s catalytic support of prayer groups, ministries and movements be felt throughout the year in local churches, cities and states across the land. That's good! I believe it pleases the heart of God, to see His people seeking His face, repenting of sins and pleading America to do the same. Read testimonies at http://ndptf.org/ and continue to pray for our oneness and unity in Christ to be fully realized.

“Prayer America’s Hope” was the theme for this year. May it continue to be prayed by us all into the fabric of our national life. And we know how much that is needed in our nation's “race to change."

Thank you so much for everything!

Dianne and I are so blessed to be a part of His Kingdom work through CFF, and we are so blessed by your years of partnership. Thank you in His Name!

Affectionately!

Keep Calendar Open on Thursday, May 7th

Keep your Calendars open on Thursday, May 7th, for the official National Day of Prayer across the United States. This day has been recognized by the US President, Congress and State Governors since 1952 as a day for Americans to come together in collective Prayer for our Nation. The NDP Task Force is the Judeo-Christian expression of that Day.

The 2009 Theme for the National Day of Prayer is "Prayer, America's Hope" Psalm 33:22 "May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you".
If you are hosting a Prayer Event at your Church or other meeting place on or around May 7th, be sure to POST your event on the website www.ndptf.org and join the thousands of other Christian churches, ministries and individuals so people can find you.

And if you're not already committed, please join us on the South Steps of the State Capitol on May 7th. The event begins at 11:30 am to 1:30 pm. A great program and prayer are planned for this year!

The National Day of Prayer - May 7 - Nearly Here!

The National Day of Prayer Task Force with it's thousands of NDP events needs your prayers as never before. There is a growing opposition in nearly every state to the presence of NDPTF activity. Many anti-god movements have taken very active stances against our local, state and national leadership. Please pray for our NDPTF leadership as they continue to faithfully execute responsbility of bringing God to the people and the people to God!

This year Joe will be in Boise, Idaho, and fly over the Boise Capitol on a "prayer flight" with Missionary Aviation Fellowship (MAF). And at noon he will be participating in the NDP activities at the Capitol building. Pray for Debbie Crosby, the Idaho State Coordinator as she continues to give strong leadership for her state.

Pray TRULY is our ONLY HOPE! Thank you for all your healing prayers for Ted Rose. He is fully recovered and moving along with strength and wisdom as he does the work of the California State Coordinator for National Day of Prayer Task Force! Life is full for him. He oversees four state regional coordinators and scores of county and events coordinators. California has the largest number of NDP prayer events. Please continue to pray for God's blessing of protection, directio0n and favor for Ted and his family.

Family - Ministry - Impact

Today, March 12, our youngest son, Drew and his wife, Becky, pick up their first dog, a puppy. It’s a fun time to welcome this newest member to the family. Life is full of surprises, isn’t it? Our God is just that way. He uses us to accomplish His good will and pleasure and fills it with the joys of life.

And what a joy it was for Alice Moss and I recently to represent the ministry of Strategic Renewal Int’l, and to have a prayer retreat for Community Baptist Church, in San Jose, CA. They write: “Thanks so much again for ministering to us for our prayer retreat. Several churches are being impacted even though you’ve only met us here at CBC.”

Other attendees walked away “stirred
to deepen prayer in their church.” In this predominately Asian, men and women enjoyed new ways of prayer – worship-based corporate prayer, using God’s Word to pray. One individual is going to soon hold a seminar at their church on “Praying Out Loud.” There were other testimonies of renewed desire to pray, and use the “Code of Silence”. Already they have 20 people signed-up to learn to pray.

February - March Update

Today (4th) is our oldest son’s birthday – Joel (34). And on the last day of this month (31st) is Daniel’s (29) birthday! Two outstanding young men! Please pray with us for them God’s protection, direction and favor in their walk with Him and His Kingdom purposes. Last weekend I partnered with Strategic Renewal Int’l to present one of their workshops at Community Baptist Church in San Jose, CA. The nearly 50 Asian participants were lead in the basics of a prayer summit, worship-based corporate prayer. Using the scriptures to pray with the men was a novel idea to them. They are catching the vision and practical how’s of personal and corporate renewal. It was a joy!

Ted Rose, our California State NDP Coordinator, is in the hospital with complications with his diabetes. The national office asked if I would ALSO function as the Interim State Coordinator until Ted is able to return. With seven western states to oversee, California is definitely a plateful of responsibility during this time of the year moving toward May 7th, and the National Day of Prayer.

Thank you so much for your prayers for Ted’s recovery, and for me this added responsibility. I am traveling more this time of the year, mostly in California now. Consequently, I will not be going to the Washington DC-NDP Event. I have several other meetings and committee’s that I’m serving on, plus fund raising. Life is full and our Lord Jesus is GREAT! Blessings to you and your family! ~ Joe & Dianne

Get Motivated Seminar + Marketplace Prayer Evangelism workshop

Dear Partners of CFF . . . May I also ask you to pray this Tuesday, February 24th for a very strategic event at the ARCO Arena - the Get-Motivated seminar , with Zig Ziglar and other outstanding speakers (General Colin Powell, Rudy Gulliani, Dr. Earl Windell, Tamara Lowe, Steve Forbes and Michael Phelps). This is billed as a "Motivation" seminar on business "how-to's". Another very strategic aspect of that event is a presentation of the Gospel before lunch in a way that is well received by the audience.

Going on simultaneous at the ARCO Arena will be a Marketplace prayer evangelism seminar with Eddie and Alice Smith, national speakers and prayer coaches. They will be teaching their seminar which will be in another room at the ARCO Arena and will be also praying for those attending the Business seminar. I ask you -- to pray with us from wherever you are. And that today we will see God touch the lives of hundreds of people at this SOLD OUT event. The prayer seminar will repeated on Wednesday, March 25th, at the Community Convention Center.

I hope you will accept this unique prayer assignment and stand with us.
